Week 7 #17 Technology

Now it seems that we can anything with just the push of a button. Everything is on the internet. I am the type of person that would boxes and boxes full of photos, but now with all this new technology I don't have to worry about that. I created a flickr account some time ago and I have filled it with photos. Since getting a digital camera I have been storing cd as well. This helps because sometimes I don't want all the pictures printed and can always go back and look at them. I now know how to use Windows Movie Maker and have made several video picture shows of my kids photos. It's great because you can add music and different graphics. This is a program that comes free with Windows XP and Windows Vista. I know there's better programs out there but some are quite expensive and I am happy with the results of Movie Maker.

week 7 #16 Wikki's

I searched the different links that were provided for us. I liked the way they were set up. My favorite was the SJCPL because it had so many different subjects. It not only included books but also different websites that provide customer's with information. I was glad to see that they had a link for local scholarships, so are usually hard to find. I think that its a great resource for people looking for information. I also was able to add my blog to the favorite blogs page with much ease. This was a simple very informative exercise.

week 6 #15

As one of the articles said "Libraries are not just collections of documents and books" we now have computers and other services that are offer. With every year bringing us new technology our customer's or patrons change. We have customer's asking us different types of questions. We not only get the question "Where is the resume books?" Now we have the questions "How do I email or post my resume?" This information is great because it helps some of us that aren't used to using these types of tools to help customers. Our customer's now and days come in and usually learn something new about the different technology that we offer.

Week 6 #14

Technorati is a great way to search through the blogs. I was able to look through different blogs and videos. Some were very entertaining. I did the search for "learning 2.0" and for every box that you put it in you get a different result. There are many ways to look up things and I really enjoyed looking through technorati again.

week 6 delicious

I wasn't able to view the tutorial for delicious, but I did go through the site and looked at the different website. I liked the fact that they bookmarked many of the fun sites as well as the informative sites. There were many sites to create avatars as well as other things. I don't have a delicious account but I would definitely consider getting one. I think this site would be great for students because, if there doing a big project they can set up there links and access them from anywhere. This a a great site!!!

Week 5 "12" Library Elf

I was never able to get into the Library Elf site. I did speak to some of the people that were able to use it and it seemed to ask for too much personal information. They wanted a library card number as well as a pin number. So this is probably something that would not have used.

week 5 LibraryThing

I am not a big reader. I personally like to listen to books. It was fairly easy to create a login and I was able to add a couple books pretty quickly. This is not one of the tools that I would probably use to frequently.
